A blend of 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 35% Merlot and 15% Malbec from a selection of Te Awa’s premium vineyard blocks; the vines are some of the oldest on the property. The The hand-harvested fruit was de-stemmed and tipped directly into open-top fermenters where it undergoes a five day cold soak; fermentation is allowed to occur naturally. The wine is aged for 18 months in French oak barrels. The nose is intense featuring plum and blackcurrant with a hint of rosemary and a savoury note; the palate is fruit-driven, showing berry fruits and Christmas-cake spice.
